Teens

Building

Lee Juvlund is our teen building coordinator.

2024-2025
Class List

To participate in co-op at the teen building students must be 13 years old by the first day of co-op.

Students need to be able to listen and behave with minimal effort from teacher, interacts well with adults, able to do group work and participate in discussions, ready for more intensive classwork. They will rotate between classes throughout the day and will be able to pick the classes they wish to participate in.

Our teen classes are laid out in three 1 hour blocks. Some of our classes are a year long, while others are only a semester.

All blocks offer a study hall option as well.

Before Classes

  • Join the Hope Co-op Teen Choir!

  • We encourage all the teens to be to co-op in time for announcements.

  • Join the teens for a brief devotion time before co-op

  • This class is still a little bit up in the air, but here is a description.

In this class we will go over the basics of painting. We will work with both grayscale and color wheels. I plan to go over a few different painting styles, as well as work on techniques such as underpainting, glazing, and how to prep a canvas. We will hopefully work with canvas/canvas paper and acrylic paints.

  • This class will go over the basics of different syllable types, grammar, punctuation and spelling patterns.

We will be doing small group activities, writing practice together, and quiz competitions! English is always one of those topics that kids groan about... but it can be taught in a very entertaining way! Once you learn the basics, apply them, and use them in regular writing, confidence is the outcome! 🤠

Materials needed: a notebook, a smartphone, and some "cool" colored writing utensils.

    Cost: $50/year

Class size: any amount of students

    Length: 16 weeks (full year)

We will learn how the internet works, what is a VPN (Virtual Private Network), what “in-Private” mode does and does not do, etc.

We will go through email and have the class determine if they are malicious or spam, also what tools are available to help minimize the amount of these.

As we go through the class we will also discuss the Ethics related to data collection and surveillance.

  • Can your students locate the Maldives on a world map? Do they know the capital of Uzbekistan? Hopefully by the end of the year, they will!

We will be using maps and games, as well as the book Eat Your Way Around the World, to make geography fun.

The goal of this class is not an in-depth study of each country, continent, or region. We would like students to be able to locate countries on a map and learn a little about the culture that goes along with each region.

This class would be for beginning map studies or for anyone who wants to have fun, eat food, and play games while honing world mapping skills.

This class will be studying the debate on creation versus evolution, what the Bible teaches, and will go through exciting topics such as Noah's flood, the ark, dragons (dinosaurs), common atheistic arguments, and other evidence. A lot of Christians are intimidated by science, but once you get a hold of these basics, it is not an intimidating topic at all. Science is on our side, so we should use it. Item description
